Now all I can think about is transferring my comfy Christmas corner - bed included and most essential - to a little cabin in the woods, being snowed in, and not leaving the house for the next few months; except for roasting marshmallows in the backyard, sipping hot chocolate on the porch and the occasional snow ball fight. I'd like a dog too for cuddling.
And Sondheim. Sondheim is on my mind also. Not for cuddling, but because of into the woods and all that.
Into the woods
And down the dell,
The path is straight,
I know it well.
Since realistically I see no way of spending the entire winter in the middle of nowhere in a reasonably priced cottage with floor heating, and because my colleagues keep reminding me that I am "no bear" - tss what does that even mean?? Plus, we already found out that the bear is one of my many spirit animals! -, the only other option appears to be bringing the forest to me. Into my home that is.
Metallic everything is all the rage right now, and apparently pine cones are a thing in the colder months, so why not bring those into play?
Into the woods,
And who can tell
What's waiting on the journey?
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- real or faux pine cones
- acrylic paint, gold
- paint brush
- small eye screws, gold
- white yarn
Step 1: Lightly brush the pine cones with golden acrylic paint using a paint brush. Focus on the tips of the cone, being as generous as you'd like. Set aside and let dry completely.
Step 2: Screw small golden eye screws into the back of the cones by hand. Wear work gloves or use pliers if necessary.
Step 3: Thread a long piece of yarn through the screw of a first pine cone and tie a knot to secure. String the remaining cones onto the yarn.
Step 4: Hang the garland. I fixed mine to the wall with a hammer and some nails.
It's not the same as the real deal, but I can kind of see the bears-love-a-cozy-forest-to-retreat-to thing going on here, what do you think?
I'm guessing you are a musical fan?
