"Of all people, you know who I am… Who the world needs me to be. I’m WONDER WOMAN!”

Hands down, what I like most about comic books are the strong female characters. They are assertive and in control, they take charge and have a no-bullshit attitude. Are they overly sexualized? Most definitely. I mean, can a jumpsuit be any tighter?

But they are also powerful and physically strong. (Which in my opinion is something that should be way more natural in our perception of women and the female physique.) They have these handy manipulation skills and cool gadgets.

A boomerang tiara? A lasso of truth??

I mean, who wouldn’t want to be a part of the gang; wear electro-static bullet bracelets, control the weather, and transform your body into a diamond whenever you see it fit?

Actually, I’m not entirely sure when the latter would be particularly useful, but at the very least, it is a great fun fact guaranteed to draw some attention!

Another fun fact: I once went on a date with this guy who considered himself a heteroflexible as well as an avid comic book reader.

A) Heteroflexible? Yes, it’s a thing.

B) He actually only read comics with female lead characters. You guess you could say that we agreed on one thing for sure: Yay for female empowerment!

This gave him extra points, but no second date.

And what does all this have to do with Easter? That’s right, absolutely nothing! Besides the fact that I like strong characters and enjoy decorating Easter eggs.

(Or is there such a thing as a bunny super hero?)

This has actually come as a bit of a surprise. Easter was never a particularly important holiday to me, but in recent years I have found joy in adorning those round little chicken vessels.

This mainly comes down to the fact that it is a super easy thing to do. There are so many different ways to style your Easter breakfast that you don’t need to be particularly talented or require any special tools. Technically, a pen would be sufficient. Or in this case, some paper and a glue stick.

For the motif, this year, I am inspired by comic characters. Or, BOOM, BAM, POW! That’s really all it comes down to. So why not!

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

- hard-boiled egg
- your motif on paper
- scissors
- glue stick

Step 1: Cut out your motif; be it from your favorite comic book, printed from the web or hand-drawn. If you are using white eggs, don’t worry about a white border, it will hardly be noticeable. Otherwise, try to cut as close to the design as possible.

Step 2: Figure out your desired design and how to best place the motifs onto the egg considering its shape and size.

Step 3: With the help of a glue stick, adhere the design onto the egg, one element at a time. Alternatively, you can also use a decoupage technique for application.

Tipp: You are gluing a flat, two-dimensional material (paper) onto a three-dimensional shape (the egg); the smaller the pieces of paper, the easier it is to apply them.

And remember that, in a world of ordinary mortals, you are a WONDER WOMAN!
