CUPID'S GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS

So since I’ve been stuck in bed, I’ve had plenty of time to think about… well, about all of the damn time I’ve got on my hands. Which may sound wonderful, particularly because I only just published this post on how little time we as oh-so-mature adults have for anything other than work. But really, being sick isn’t exactly the same as taking a few days off or going away for the holidays.

It is in fact torture. Yes, you heard correctly. Torture.
I am either much too exhausted to do anything (even doing the dishes seems to require too much of an effort) or I simply feel much too overwhelmed by all of this free time and pressured into being productive which only blocks my creativity.

I think it’s a mental thing though.

Oh brain, what a mystery though art.

It’s not that I’m not trying. Because I am, I promise!  I even made a (much too) long list of things I want to get done during my healing process.

Although, let’s face it, I am never going to actually finish it. Because that’s what lists are for. To be created with sincerity and determination and to then be transferred to the bin once half finished.

I’m actually not that bad with lists. In fact, I love them. The satisfaction when crossing something off is just… well, it’s one of the best feelings in the world.

But although my list may not be realistic, I have already managed to cross a few smaller things off. One of which is this little display which I have entitled Cupid’s Greatest Achievements.

And it was loads of fun to make! I quizzed some of my friends and family on their favorite romantic couples and here’s how my little Valentine’s exhibition turned out.

Quite productive for a sickly procrastinator lying in bed all day with dirty dishes piling up to the roof, if I may say so myself.

(I’m sorry to say that Homer and Marge didn’t make the cut tough…)

(I didn’t even realize I asked way too many people for their input until it was much too late. So I’m sorry if you’re missing your idols!)

Romeo and Juliet was one of the first couples to be named obviously and it felt wrong to ignore Shakespeare’s masterpiece. Orpheus and Eurydice are one of my favorites, it’s such a tale of romance and woe, it’s tragically beautiful. Tristan and Isolde were nominated by my mom, and Lily and Marshall are just freaking great. The couple of the century probably.

I find I wasn’t using my time too badly after all. It’s all in the name of lurv.

Want to know how I made the arrows? Check out the tutorial herePop them into an extra-deep picture frame, add some lettering and you’ve got yourself your very own Valentine’s exhibition.
