I you haven't dyed your eggs for Easter yet and you don't want your egg hunt to be an utter disappointment, it's about time you start crafting!

Probably the easiest way to get around that messy coloring station though is to grab a sharpie and add a simple smiley face to your eggs. That will certainly make someone's morning more cheerful.

But to step it up a notch, why not turn the eggs into little Easter bunnies?

I can't say for sure, but I have a feeling we used to make these in kindergarten.

Best times really...

Bunny eggs, spoon dolls, sponge caterpillars…

Life was so carefree then.

But I'm pretty sure my 4-year-old self didn't adorn her rabbit friends with floral crowns. So that is exactly what I am going to do this Easter!

... create my very own royal egg family!

I'm still in need of a king and queen, and maybe some royal brothers...

Step 1: Using colored markers, paint an adorable bunny face onto your hard-boiled egg. Look up a reference online if necessary.

Step 2: To make a bunny ear, cut a thin rectangle from a sheet of paper in the length if your choice. Mine is 5,5 cm long. Fold the rectangle in half length-wise and cut the top into a rounded shape. Repeat for the second ear. If you'd like, add some color to the inside of the ears. Position the ears onto the top of the egg and tape or glue into place.

Step 3: Make the flower crown by cutting a flower stem to size. The stem should be able to go around the top of the egg easily and overlap slightly at the ends. Using a piece of sewing thread, knot the two ends together. Use additional floral tape if need be.

Step 4: Top the bunny egg with the flower crown. Tape to the back of the egg if necessary; the crown will also hide the ends of the bunny ears. Shape the bunny ears as desired by twisting and pinching the paper.

Tip: You can either place the bunny in an egg cup or make a stand with a strip of cardboard paper that has been rolled and taped into an upright circular shape.
